Straightforward from the first email to the signed agreement. Here is what counsel and clients can expect.
Email kent@sommermediation.com or call (626) 250-2069 to initiate. Have several possible dates ready so a day can be confirmed quickly. Emails and calls are returned the same day.
Mediations are held online by Zoom or in person. In-person sessions take place at a mutually agreed location, preferably one of the litigating attorneys' offices. If no office is available, Kent can arrange a neutral location.
Each party is encouraged to submit a written brief at least five days before the mediation. These briefs matter. They let Kent arrive already understanding the case, which is what makes the settlement discussion productive from the first caucus. A useful brief covers:
Before anything substantive, all parties sign a confidentiality agreement. From there the format is tailored to the case. Sessions usually run as private meetings with each attorney and client, with joint sessions when they will help. Kent provides a confidential, impartial setting throughout.
If the matter doesn't resolve the same day, Kent stays involved and keeps working with the parties toward a full resolution.
Separate breakout rooms for each side, joint rooms when needed, and no travel time for anyone. Most matters are handled this way.
Available throughout Southern California at counsel's office or a neutral location. May carry additional cost. See fees.
Every mediation begins with a signed confidentiality agreement. What is said in the room stays in the room.
Email is the fastest way to schedule. Send the case name, the parties, and a few dates that work for everyone. Emails and calls are returned the same day.
